KML Triple Seal Black Oxide Insert
KML introduces you New Triple Seal Black Oxide Coated Ball Bearing Inserts for WASHDOWN Applications.
A simple process has been developed by KML R&D department to form a black lustrous, strongly adherent oxide coating. The oxide layer so formed renders the material highly resistant to mechanical abrasion, corrosion by mineral acids, salt solutions and atmospheric oxidation.
The operating parameters for controlling the thickness and corrosion resistance have been established to yield a product with desired specific end properties that comply with KML BEARING high quality standards.
There newly developed inserts are designed keeping in mind that Water and Mist are a bearings nightmare. We have also designed a special triple-lip seal that protects the grease and consequently, the internal components (balls and raceways) from contamination and early deterioration.
Every component of the ball bearing insert receives a special black oxide treatment that dramatically improves resistance to corrosion and prevents early bearing failure.
These inserts are available from STOCK in most popular sizes and can be fitted into our KML cast iron, thermoplastic or 440 stainless steel housings.
This new Black Oxide Triple-Lip Insert Series is a perfect complement to our existing and very popular Stainless Steel Food Grade Platinum Series.

KML Corrosion Resistant Bearings
Corrosion resistant, non-magnetic bearing housings and insert bearings are used in various industries including food processing, canning, bottling, pharmaceutical, packaging, paint, dye, textiles, exercise equipment, marine, automotive, photo processing, appliance and chemical processing.
KML Stainless Steel Bearings are filled with FDA and HACCP approved MOBIL FM222 food grade grease. There bearings are used in various applications where they are exposed to moisture, corrosive and abrasive conditions.
KML housings are made of high-grade, solid thermoplastic polyester, and are excellent replacements for conventional cast iron housings in many applications. With a tensile strength of 17,300 psi, they provide a strength and durability not found in other plastic housings. Additionally, they can be cleaned or hosed down with hot water and will operate at temperatures up to 125. Unlike cast iron housings, KML housings never need plating or coating and will not peel or chip; the PBT thermoplastic material is corrosion proof. KML can supply the thermoplastic housings with or without stainless steel insert bearings.

Dragon Boat Festival
Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, and also known as Double Fifth Day. Dragon Boat Festival together with Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival forms one of the three major Chinese holidays. Since the summer is a time when diseases most easily spread, Dragon Boat Festival began as an occasion for driving off evil spirits and pestilence and for finding peace in one's life.
 |
The festival was later enriched by the legend of the patriot Qu Yuana minister during the Warring States Period (475 - 221 BC). At the end of the Zhou Dynasty, Qu Yuan did much to fight against the rampant corruption that plagued the court-- thereby earning the envy and fear of other officials. Therefore, when he urged the emperor to avoid conflict with the Qin Kingdom, the officials pressured the Emperor to have him removed from service. In exile, he traveled, taught and wrote for several years. Hearing that the Zhou had been defeated by the Qin, he fell into despair and threw himself into the Milou River on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. As he was so loved by the people, fishermen rushed out in long boats, beating drums to scare the fish away, and throwing "Zong Zi" into the water to feed braver fish so that they would not eat Qu Yuan's body.
Zong zi as the traditional food for the Dragon Boat Festival, is a glutinous rice ball, with a filling, wrapped in corn leaves. The fillings can be egg, beans, dates, fruits, sweet potato, walnuts, mushrooms, meat, or a combination of them. They are generally steamed. Zong Zi, originally eaten in memory of the patriot Qu Yuan, but gradually evolving into a snack eaten during normal occasions as well.
Dragon Boat Festival is highlighted by the dragon boat races, in which competing teams drive their boats forward rowing to the rhythm of pounding drums. Dragon Boats are generally brightly painted and decorated canoes. Ranging anywhere from 40 to 100 feet in length, their heads are shaped like open-mouthed dragons, while the sterns end with a scaly tail. A drummer and flag-catcher stand at the front of the boat. Annual races take place all over China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and other overseas Chinese communities.

Roy Chen
My Chinese name is Chen Chuliang, Chen is my family name, and my English name is Roy. I am very glad that editor gives me a chance to introduce myself.
I come from a city of Hubei Province of China, called Hanchuan. The city got its name from Han River, which meets the Yangtze River here. The city has distinctive climates in four seasons, with rivers and lakes crisscrossing, and is renowned as "a land of fish and rice".
After leaving my hometown, I studied in the major of Marketing at Wuhan University of Technology and obtained Bachelors Degree of Management. After graduation, I worked for over three years with a mechanical company in the fields of market promotion, market investigation and advertisement design.
I was lucky to join the Marketing Department of KML-CN in May 2007 to work with all my colleagues here. I hope that in the family of KML, I will learn more and make more friends. Here is a personal profile of mine, hopefully with this newsletter, you will know me better and faster.
Hobbies: traveling, playing badminton, photographing

Dalton Liang: My Impression on Istanbul
I. Special Geographic Location
This April, for the exhibition of AUTOMECHANIKA ISTANBUL, I had the good luck to visit this ancient city of Istanbul, said to be of 3000 years of history, with Tony and Tim.
In terms of geographic location, this city is very special: it is the only city in the world that bestrides Europe and Asia. The Med meets the Black Sea here; and the famous Bosporus separates the city into two parts: one in Europe and the other in Asia. To solve the problem of transportation, the city has two grand cable stayed bridges built, like two rainbows that connect the two sides of Europe and Asia. The bridges collect two-way charges. To alleviate the traffic jam caused by toll charge collection, electronic automatic payment system is installed so that vehicles need not stop at the charge station. Even so, there is still increasingly intense traffic pressure brought by the development. The Turkey government started to build a subsea tunnel five years ago, which, however, as we were told by our local customer, has not yet completed due to shortage of capital.
II. The Ancient and Modern Civilizations Merge here
The city of Istanbul is composed of 7 mountain areas. During our exhibition in Istanbul, we stayed in a small hotel near TAKSIM Square, the most aged area of the city. We could see the array of modern skyscrapers, neon lights, and glistening broadcasting posters as seen in other metropolitan cities. What made it special was the minaret on the MOSQUE, completely built of white marbles, which pointed directly to the sky like the point of a pen. The first two days after our arrival, I was woken up by the voice reciting Quran through a speaker from the minaret at 4 am every early morning. Out of curiosity, I asked our local clients whether they got up so early to pray and the answer I got almost shocked me: only one client said that he went to the mosque for his prayers only once, over ten years ago. I was also told that only those aged people here go to the mosque for prayers, as the young are busy making money to buy their own house&I was silenced by the answer. Walking on the street, one often came across mysterious ladies behind a black veil, with only two big eyes outside the veil and the modern ladies in high heels and bare midriff, which constituted an interesting scene. The Turks seemed to be very patriotic, with a huge Turkey national flag at the peak of each mountain, which stretched out in the wind and was lightened by the radiator light at night. And many residents extended a star and crescent moon flag from their window or balcony.
III. Roads everywhere, vehicles everywhere
The TAKASIM Square was about 1 hours drive from the exhibition center TUYAP. To avoid the rush hour, the exhibition started at 11 am, therefore, the free shuttle bus left the square at 10 am for the exhibition center and returned from the center at 7 pm to the square. Even so, the traffic jam was still inevitable. Surprisingly, the route taken by each driver differed day by day, as if there were many alternative routes between TAKSAM and TUYAP. In the evening, the bus arrived at the mountain peak. Overlooking the city, we saw the car lights formed a fluid fire dragon, which magnificently snaked around the whole region. As told by our native clients, Istanbul city has a population of 15 million, with around 3 million vehicles on the road every day. If every two vehicles took up 3 meters of a road, the 3 million vehicles were as long as 9000 km then. It was no surprising that Turkey had such a large automobile fittings market. By the way, the Turks have remarkably high driving skills. During our 10 days in Turkey, we did not see a single Traffic accident. Frequent were traffic jams. But people here seemed to take it well and the peddlers took this opportunity to do their business at road sections where traffic jams were more serious. Flowers and pancakes formed a bright sight in Turkey. I thought that the Turks were good at grasping business opportunities: If a youth who was late for the date took a bunch of fresh flowers to meet his girl friend, the girl friends anger would be soothed by half. And the starving travelers heading home, how could they feel happy being caught in the traffic jam? But a big pancake costing only a couple of cents must be much better. Once we were caught in the traffic jam on our way back to the hotel, the beautiful lady sitting beside the driver bought a pancake from the peddler and shared it with Tim and me: it tastes so good!
IV. We Three Were Foreigners
Apr. 23rd was the Independence Day of Turkey and the Childrens Day. There was a grand festival in Turkey and a national holiday for the Turks. Parents who worked outside Istanbul came back to see their children; there were parades and traditional programs. On the morning of April 21st, we met a group of little kids at the dining hall, who recognized us as Chinese. Some of them called us Jack Chan and did some Kung-fu actions. After demonstrating a few moves of Kung-fu, Tony immediately became the idol of these kids; we were encircled by them to take photographs. Now we knew how it felt to be "foreigners". We were also impressed by the influence of culture on this generation; and no wonder people started to worry about the influence of the "Korean storm" and "McDonalds" on the younger generation of the Chinese.
